Race Report From Glendale, Arizona.
Jimmy D is not out there to be a seventh place guy. So after a tough mud race weekend at Anaheim 1, the stage on Glendale was set for redemption for the no. 64 JGR Factory Suzuki.
After a top five result in qualifying, Jimmy blasted out of the gate in the second 250 heat race of the night. Rounding the first turn with the holeshot, Jimmy put his head down to try and sprint away from the second place rider, current points leader Colt Nichols. Nichols was on a blazing pace as well, and both riders quickly gapped the rest of the field in their battle for the lead. After some passing back and forth, Nichols stuck the overtake, and Jimmy finished in a strong second place.
With a solid gate pick, the main event was tee'd up for another of Jimmy D's signature good starts. And he delivered. As the field rounded turn one, Jimmy was in the top three! The top five was filled usual suspects, and the pace up front was strong for the duration of the 15+1 main event. Battling with the front runners, Jimmy had minor miscues that knocked him back a couple of positions, before finally settling in fifth by race's end. The strong top five finish is obviously an improvement on A1, and just another building block on Jimmy's journey to the podium in 2019.
