Race Report from Oakland, California.
The AMA Supercross series made its way to the Bay for round four in Oakland. Jimmy D came into the weekend for redemption after his tough go at the A2 Triple Crown. But carrying an illness into race day, it looked like another tough night ahead. But after a solid fourth in qualifying, the writing was on the wall that Jimmy's speed was not an issue.
The highlight of Jimmy's night was the heat race. Though his start was so-so, Jimmy managed to stay clear of the first lap mayhem and once the pack settled, he began picking riders off. One by one, Jimmy made passes up to the front - his whoops speed a step above every rider in front of him - and eventually, the no. 64 was in the lead. With a clear track, Jimmy gapped the field and cruised home for his first heat win of the season.
The main event would again present a challenging situation for Jimmy D. A good-not-great start had Jimmy up with the front of the pack, but a bobble in the whoops was all it took to end his hopes of reaching the podium. Jimmy was able to eventually remount for 15th by race's end.
